Understanding what’s going on
Your pelvic floor muscles support your bladder, bowel and core stability. When they weaken — whether through childbirth, menopause, ageing or lifestyle factors — symptoms can start to appear.
You might notice:
- leaking when you laugh, sneeze or exercise
- needing to rush to the toilet more often
- reduced control or confidence
- changes in sensation or strength
These changes don’t always happen overnight, which is why they’re often left for longer than they should be.
What pelvic floor treatment involves
Traditionally, pelvic floor treatment has focused on exercises — often referred to as Kegels — carried out consistently over time. While these can help, they’re not always easy to get right, and results can be slow or inconsistent. More advanced options are now available.
At Estrada Clinic, pelvic floor treatment can include the use of the Emsella chair, which works directly on the muscles. Instead of relying on technique or effort, the treatment stimulates the pelvic floor for you, helping to build strength in a more consistent way.
It’s a non-invasive option, and sessions are simple. You remain fully clothed, and there’s no downtime afterwards, making it easy to fit around everyday life.
